Local Twitter users have Uber arguments Live
Besides gracing the front page of the newspaper since 1901, I also spend time watching Twitter. Here’s some notable tweets from the week.
As a bird, it's hard for me to wrap my head around the passionate arguments for and against Uber. (Flight makes transportation easy!)
But on Twitter, the arguments are raging, especially this week after a meeting of the Metropolitan Taxicab Commission ended without a vote on the issue.
My FB is full of StL friends mad that we don't have Uber yet, and my twitter is full of SF friends mad about how Uber does business.

From the president/CEO of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association:
No lie. MTC mtg today was like the "Harper Valley PTA." #STL can do better. @mepstl was right to ask folks to step back, work it out.

Just get Uber here, and let the chips fall where they land, stop overthinking who or where Uber will go or offend

Jane Dueker, a local political operative, jumped in to question Uber. Part of the conversation:
@JaneDueker @sommerscm can we all just admit that the taxi owners are worried about losing money & stop peddling this safety nonsense

From a local taxi driver:
Sheldon Richardson going 143mph, smoking weed, a gun and kid in his Bentley. What does he think he is? An #uber driver?

Taxis in #stl are unreliable, and often completely unpleasant. If introducing @uber spurs improvement in cabs, that's a win for everyone.

If @STLTaxiComm were named "Great Transportation in STL Commission" instead, how might @uber debate change? @EdwardDomain @michaelcalhoun

Plenty of common ground to find between stereotyped Uber supporters and opponents in STL. The cronyism and sham commissions need our attnt.
