After a video showing Lexi Kozhedsky protecting the police in Ferguson on Monday night went viral, Kozhedsky became an internet meme, protecting everything from the Fire Nation to Geno Smith.
Kozhedsky, 19, of University City, was filmed by Post-Dispatch photographer David Carson standing in front of a line of police officers. She said she supported the protesters, but thought the police deserved protection from outsiders there to cause trouble.
"If anything comes their way, I would rather it hit me than them, because they've already been through a lot and I don't think they deserve that," she said.
