Cards whiff on World Championship bid Live
So much for the promise of crazy Game 6 drama.
The Cardinals got a few good swings at Boston Red Sox starting pitcher John Lackey, then their offense went pffffffffttt again.
Rookie Cardinals pitcher Michael Wacha hung tough for a while but he finally rank out of magic. Not even he could save them in this World Series.
With the fan euphoria building in Fenway Park, the Red Sox finally broke through and rolled to their clinching 6-1 victory.
This was their first Series-clinching victory in the storied ballpark and infrastructure got an extreme test during the ensuing party.
As for the Cardinals, they return home with sawed-off bats and wonder what the future will hold. Free agency beckons veterans Carlos Beltran and Edward Mujica.
General manager John Mozeliak must fill some glaring lineup and bench holes through trades and free agency. All those young pitchers must reflect on what they can do better next time around.

Victorino the best at 2 things: being hit by pitch, and hitting in postseason with bases loaded. 3-0 red sox.
