Regarding the exit for Hwy N from I-64 at Lake Saint Louis: When you get to the 364 Eastbound exit, there's a sign that says the Hwy N exit is 1/2 mile ahead. In reality, it's less than a quarter mile. I've seen a lot of people getting caught out by that. Can it be investigated and resolved? Thanks! -

On Manchester, east of Lindbergh, in what I think is Glendale, there have been traffic disruptions related to underground work for over a year. You have mentioned, I think, that the work is for gas lines or something of that sort - I know it is important that the work be done. But if MODOT contractors can lay miles of asphalt on an interstate highway overnight, and they do that all the time, how can this Manchester work possibly take so long? Between the steel plates which never go away, and the existing potholes and absence of a shoulder to give drivers "breathing room", it is unpleasant in that area. Can MODOT force the contractors to expedite their work, perhaps by imposing penalties for delays? ...Is there any light at the end of the (underground) tunnel?

Much of the work on Manchester in the past has been for a Missouri American Water main upgrade. Although the roadway work is done through permit, the actual contractors are hired and primarily overseen by the utility, with some oversight by the department. As a part of the permitting, we do specify how long the utility company can work on the roadway, and the goal is to try to minimize the impact to the businesses and the drivers along the roadway. However, the drawback to that is the length of time it takes to complete work. They also want to make sure that the work that they did is solid ( i.e. they don't want to have a leak on roadway that was just completed), so there is often some delay between when the underground work is completed and the final layer of asphalt to restore the roadway to the original condition is completed. We do have some leverage with the utility companies, as far as issuing new permits, but the contractors don't work for MoDOT here. Unfortunately, all this main work was done just prior to a two-year roadway project along Manchester between Big Bend and Lindbergh: Manchester Road (Route 100) between Big Bend and Lindbergh | Missouri Department of Transportation (modot.org). Utility relocation work for that project has begun, and our contractors are starting work soon. Just wondering with Jefferson exit being closed on I-64, whether the traffic counts at other locations are being watched. Sure seems that everyone wants to use Hampton to cut from I-44 to I-64 and vice versa. Every morning, traffic backs up on to 44, and every afternoon it backs up onto 64 near Forest Park. Thanks! -

The entrance from north bound Lindbergh in Sunset Hills onto Watson East is a yield entrance but vehicles frequently use it as a merge ramp, running cars in the right lane into the left lane or into oncoming west bound Watson traffic to avoid a collision. The ramp needs better signage or lights

If people are not obeying the street signs (i.e. the roadway is marked as a yield, not a merge), then that is an issue for law enforcement. Although we can certainly pass on those concerns, it is often more effective for the drivers who see and live in the area to share that with law enforcement, when they see it.
