That is on our list of pavement repairs to complete. As of now, weather permitting, the plan is to complete this Saturday night. However, rain may force them to postpone that work. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Yes, we are on still track to get all lanes (including the ramp) open by mid-July. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

A Road Crew reader recently asked about the signals controlling the intersection of North and South Road and Blackberry: "The traffic light used to be on a sensor so that when a car would travel east/west on Blackberry it would trigger the light to change. The sensor has not been operational for at least a month or two and the light constantly cycles, regardless of traffic flow. Is it possible for this light to be operational on the sensor as it once was?" ST. LOUIS COUNTY'S REPLY: Unfortunately, no, we can't restore those signals to sensor mode until our current improvement project on North and South Road is complete later this summer. The pavement-imbedded detection loops (i.e., sensors) previously in place were damaged during the work - a not-uncommon occurrence. Were we to replace them now, before work is complete, they would almost certainly be damaged, as well. Thus, it's our policy to replace damaged loops/sensors only after the new pavement has been laid. David Wrone, St. Louis County
You are very welcome. Thank you for the kind words! David Wrone, St. Louis County
That is correct, there is not a lot of right-of-way available along those routes. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Last week, A Road Crew participant asked: "Can the stop bar for NB Grant Rd be moved further north at Big Bend? There is limited visibility of EB Big Bend, and zero visibility of WB Big Bend, if you actually stop at the stop bar. This creates conflict with WB drivers turning left, not knowing where NB vehicles are going to stop." ST. LOUIS COUNTY'S REPLY: The existing stop bar on Grant Road at Big Bend is a thermoplastic tape which wasn't installed by St. Louis County. (We haven't used this tape for nearly 20 years.) More than likely, the stop bar was installed and is maintained by the local muni. However, the bar is set sufficiently far back to allow a clear pedestrian path from curb ramp to curb ramp on the Grant Road approach. It's an acceptable practice for a motorist to edge past the stop bar, in an effort to improve his or her visibility, if no pedestrians are present. David Wrone, St. Louis County
The added lane at Ballas is a right turn onto the interstate. There is an overhead sign that indicates that. I'll ask the traffic team to verify that the overhead and roadway signing is correct. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
That is on our list of pavement repairs to be completed. They are ranked according to the priority of the repair, and currently, this repair is tentatively set for sometime around the end of June (depending on weather and if other, higher priority repairs arise as it gets warmer. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Although St. Louis County maintains this stretch of Hanley Road, parking enforcement is handled by the City of Clayton. I suggest that you contact the city and share your concerns. David Wrone, St. Louis County
What time are you seeing this issue? Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Thanks -- I'll pass it along to have our traffic team check it out. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I'll forward your request/suggestion to our Traffic Studies group for consideration. David Wrone, St. Louis County
The 270 resurfacing project ended right at the base of the ramp at Page. There was a friction treatment put on several ramps last year, but that didn't put a new surface on the ramp. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I'll have to check with our operations group, and will reply next week. David Wrone, St. Louis County
Yes, Big Bend will be resurfaced from Manchester north to Delmar by next summer/fall ('20). We are concurrently engaged in a $3.58 million improvement on this stretch of Big Bend while Missouri American Water installs 10,000 feet of 8" pipe on/beneath the road. David Wrone, St. Louis County
