A couple of items before the chat starts -- Last week, we had a question asking about the status on the delineators on the ramp from southbound 141 to westbound Olive. Those delineators are scheduled to be installed in a few weeks -- I am told that they should be done, weather permitting, by Labor Day. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
The work on I-44 will continue into December. We have several other projects slated for the corridor which start next year, as well. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
IDOT doesn't join us in the chat rooms. I have passed the question on to one of my contacts over there. If I get an answer, I will share it, either here or next week. Thanks! Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
The work on the ramp to Route 364 was bridge sealing. It helps preserve the life of the driving surface on the ramp/bridge. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I'll refer these issues to our Division of Operations for investigation and remediation. David Wrone, St. Louis County
I've passed it along to our maintenance team to check out and see if there is an issue there. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
The work down on Broadway should be completed by end of this month. I will check on their status.
Jefferson traffic is taking some of the detour traffic from MoDOT's Grand bridge reconstruction project. While the bridge project has been underway for awhile now, the latest stage with the eastbound off-ramp and westbound on-ramp (southbound right turns restricted) is a recent event - resulting in another shift of traffic. The contractor's traffic engineer is in the process of monitoring and adjusting signal timing to mitigate impacts of this project.
Thanks for the info -- we'll take a look at the signal to make sure it is operating correctly. You can always call in signals that appear to be malfunctioning to our customer service team 24/7 at 275-1500 (or 1-888-ASK-MODOT) Flashing yellow arrows are not very safe or effective on corridors where traffic runs 50 mph or greater. It increases the chance of side impact crashes greatly. Safety must take precedence over traffic flow. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
The City has a project underway to update the downtown area bike infrastructure and will contain short and long term recommendations for implementation. Once we have a holistic approach to the area we will be able to identify new connections - one of which may be Olive as described.
The intersection of Lafayette and Mississippi is currently being improved at the location shared by Lafayette Prep Academy and Lafayette Park. Alderman Coatar, in collaboration with the Street Dept and Board of Public Service, led this effort to construct new intersection curb ramps that are ADA compliant and have highly visible crosswalks striped. The crosswalks will be striped now that the ramps are present. In addition, this are was further improved by the alderman to include a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) at Lafayette & 18th St. to facilitate safer pedestrian crossings at that location. This LED sign alerts motorists of the presence of pedestrians at the push of a button.
This location was put on flash while it is being considered for removal due to traffic demands.
The project on Route 94 was to widen shoulders and overlay the roadway. We do not have currently have any funding identified for any additional work along 94, although it would be nice to straighten the roadway here. We have not changed any of the curves or lanes as a part of this project. We will need to wait for the police report to determine the cause of the crash. We will get the grate fixed. You can always call in safety concerns to our customer service team at 275-1500 or 1-888-ASK-MODOT. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
We will take a look at this signal to make sure the signal is functioning correctly. I know we don't need to tell you, but this shows why it is important to pull up to the stop bar if you are the first in line in a lane. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I've passed your kudos on to our traffic team. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
There are no requirements for signal heads for minor movements (relative to the predominate through movement for example) to be more than the one provided unless there are issues with visibility.
Since Kingshighway never had an EB on-ramp, there is no detour signing necessary during the on-going construction. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
We'll continue to keep an eye on that area. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Typically, we don't sign that far back from the interstate permanently -- however, we can provide signs to the city for their streets if they choose to do so.. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
