There was a stall on eastbound I-44 (about 6:50) and then a crash shortly thereafter. The crash was cleared about 8:30. This is why we ask people to reduce distractions and pay attention on the roadway, especially in areas where we have work zones. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
We are looking at that lane reopening by mid-September. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
E/O means "east of." Most of the abbreviations reference compass directions. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Dave, we are currently working on resurfacing I-44 from Kingshighway to Murdoch this year; Murdoch to the city limits next year and from Kingshighway to I-55 in 2019. We have several bridges along the corridor that need to be rehabilitated before we put a new surface on the interstate. I'll let the city speak to your other questions. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Big Bend at I-44 is on our list of projects that we would like to complete, but at this time, we have no funding identified for work on it. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I will alert the streets crew about this - thanks!
Watson & Creighton is in the City. One of the older ones we have. We're already exploring options to upgrade it - which would include vehicle/pedestrian detection. Currently it services every traffic movement since no detection equipment in place. In a project to upgrade it, we would be able to coordinate it with MoDOT's nearby signal at Watson & Mackenzie.
Part of it is, but we still have bridge work near Shrewsbury that will impact the resurfacing of a stretch of I-44 . We should be doing that section after the railroad bridge work is complete. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Our contractor will begin work in September. The boundaries of the project are Murdoch from Lansdowne to Laclede, and will include curb and sidewalk replacement/repair and a new driving surface. David Wrone, St. Louis County
St Charles city is evaluating the feasibility of a protected bike lane on Route 370 over the Missouri. At this time, no funding has been identified. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I forwarded your comments to parks/forestry to address. Thanks!
We have to complete some guard rail work at the ramp from EB I-64 to I-270 before we can open that lane up. We will open those lanes up when the guard rail work is complete. As far as I-70 at 5th Street, you are correct. That sign is one that is set to be replaced. We want to replace all the signs over I-70 at one time , and we haven't gotten all the signs in yet. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Yes - our technicians reset the detection at the intersection and it appeared to be working thereafter. This intersection has both video detection and in-ground wireless sensors. What time did you see it not looking to be operating correctly?
We will check the sight distance at the intersection of Tucker & 13th for the northbound approach. Thanks for the observation.
When a new developer is going through the permitting process, they have to complete a traffic study showing the potential impact for their new development; We require them to make improvements to the roadway to remediate those potential impacts. We do have to give the roadway with the most traffic the most time on the signal; however, no roadway is going to truly be free-flowing for all of the rush periods. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
We will take a look at the utility covers on Chippewa west of Hampton; however, understand that it is practically impossible (and exceptionally cost prohibitive) to have those covers at the same level as the pavement; Typically, utility covers can be up to one-half inch below the surface of the roadway and still be within "acceptable" limits. It may not be completely comfortable to drivers, but it is a standard that allows us to be fair to both drivers and to overall taxpayers. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
