MoDOT's priorities, during any snow storm, are the roadways with the highest number of vehicles. That is typically the interstates. Route 364 is considered a high priority route, and crews are out on it regularly during storms. That being said, there is a lot of the route that is on bridges or over water. That can make the roadway colder and can make it a little more challenging for treatments to work, especially in colder temperatures like we have had recently. Our crews are very dedicated and proud of the work that they do, and do everything they can to make the road as safe as possible, both during the storm and until the roadways are clear. Railroads are privately owned. They would be responsible for upkeep of their infrastructure. I am not aware of any work at this time on that overpass. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Thanks for sharing that contact information. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Be cautious and realize there MAY be intermittent ice patches on the system. Also, please keep well behind our plows. David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation
Crews remain out treating the roadways. Colder temperatures mean that the treatments that we do put down are not as effective, and often will refreeze as temps drop (especially on bridges and overpasses). Black ice can be a possibility, so please drive for the conditions. Please slow down, put down the phone, pay attention, and if at all possible, avoid travel in the southern portion of the state where the National Weather Service is forecasting freezing rain and possible ice. The font standards outlined by the Manual for Uniform Traffic Control Devices change. As we replace signs we ensure they meet the updated standards. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I'll check with our Department of Public Works and post a reply next week. David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation
Theresa, please email me at dwrone@stlouisco.com. I'll need to get more info about this area before forwarding it for investigation. Thanks! David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation
I believe Clearview was the old font and Highway Gothic is the new (old) font. Clearview was "launched" in about 2004 and retired in 2016. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Comunications
We can certainly have someone check them out and replace them if they are needed. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
We do have some work for the bridge in the area set for next year. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
From our standpoint, our primary concern is the safety of the traveling public. Every storm is different, but we try to get the right mix on the roadway, based on the storm, the expected weather patterns, temperatures and the like. We are obviously concerned about the wise use of taxpayer funds, but we also want to strive to get the roads clear and safe as soon as possible. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
There are too many lanes in front of the library there to make the signal a flashing yellow arrow. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
That is expected to be complete this spring. Due to weather, we haven't been able to make a lot of progress during the last couple of months. As soon as the weather warms up and permits, our contractor will be back out there to finish that project up. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
