At the intersection of Alabama & Germania, the crosswalk countdown and traffic lights seem to be out of sync. The traffic light is turning yellow at 4 seconds and red at 0. I am used to seeing the light turn yellow at 0 and red a few seconds later at other intersections. This happens at all times. Which sequence would be correct?

Although we really can't speak to IDOT's project, both it and the I-44 project at Jefferson involve a fully closed roadway, so the work hasn't been significantly impacted by lighter traffic volumes. We have been able to have some lane closures start earlier or run later due to lighter traffic. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

Some of your work zones have signs that say No Phone Zone or something similar. Is that a suggestion for drivers rather than a law? I couldn't find a state law for restricting phone use in work zones.
Relatedly, the signs on the overhead pantries on EB 44 designating the Watson ramp closure are too small. They work for SB 270, since the ramp is dual purpose. It has it's own exit sign on EB and that tiny little closed sign is hard to read at night, plus doesn't fully convey the whole ramp is closed. The message board does talk about the closure...I just think better signs on the overheads would be helpful. -
The overhead and the changeable message boards are primarily what we are using to share that the Watson ramp is closed. However we do have to indicate that the ramp is closed on the overhead signs, and that's what the signs you reference are for -- on those, we do have limitations, based on traffic control standards. As far as your question about phones in work zones, we are encouraging drivers to put down their phones and avoid distractions in work zones -- that is not a law in Missouri at this time, but it is still a good way to remain safe while driving through work zones.
