We'll definitely take a look at it. We do have a resurfacing project in that area that should start next month when we have more consistent evening temperatures, but we'll have someone check it out to see what needs to be patched to keep it safe until then. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I've reached out to our traffic team in this area. If I remember correctly, we had significant backups in this area when we funneled the exiting traffic to one lane. And though aggressive driving where people try to get in front of other vehicles on a ramp to shave a few seconds off their driving time is frustrating and inherently unsafe, we are much more concerned with slowed or stopped traffic on an interstate to interstate interchange. Unfortunately, putting any kind of barrier in the middle of traffic traveling 60 mph (plus) on either side can be very dangerous, and double white lines are only effective if they are enforced (the Maryland Heights police department received a grant to enforce the double white lines on northbound I-270 when they were initially placed on the roadway). When I hear back from our traffic team, I'll share their thoughts. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications.
Yes -- our maintenance team went out and put in an asphalt wedge to temporarily fill the dip, but we have placed it on the list for a more permanent concrete repair later. Unfortunately, there are a lot of other repairs on the list, so it's hard to say exactly when they may get out to complete the more permanent repair. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
From MoDOT's standpoint, about 95 percent of our signals are connected to our Transportation Management Center (where we monitor traffic flow through the St. Louis area) and are updated from central software (similar to how computers and phones update). Those that aren't connected have an internal calendar and clock which automatically adjusts for time changes. If you have specific signals that you believe haven't updated, please feel free to share them, and if they are on interstates or state numbered and lettered routes, we will certainly check them out. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Nighttime temperatures need to consistently be a bit warmer to do the last layer of asphalt between Kingshighway and Grand. I would anticipate that you would see that work start in April. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Within the next two to three years, we'll begin our McKelvey Road improvement project, that will, when complete, result in the resurfacing of that road from Ameling to Creve Coeur Mill. However, we're still in the process of securing the federal funding needed to finance that work. Within that same time frame (within the next two to three years), Creve Coeur Mill Road, from Pritchard Farm Road to I-270, will be improved. David Wrone, St. Louis County Department of Transportation
Sure. You are welcome to e-mail me at andrew.gates@modot.mo.gov -- or you can call it in to our customer service team at 314-275-1500 (and they can share it directly with the maintenance team). Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communciations
Last week, a motorist inquired about the cause of periodic congestion at the intersection of Big Bend and Forsyth. Our signals group informs me that the pavement-embedded vehicle sensors controlling that intersection's lights were damaged during our ongoing Big Bend improvement project. Consequently, we've had to format those signals to cycle "green" even if no vehicles are present - hence the traffic congestion. We can't replace the sensors until the project is complete, but will do so immediately when that milestone is reached later this year. David Wrone, St. Louis County Department of Transportation
Thanks -- our St. Charles maintenance team is aware of the area and continues to monitor it, while they work on a plan to make repairs. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Do you have a particular time when you are seeing at issue on Clearview? That can help our traffic engineer determine if there is a detection or perhaps a timing issue. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Thanks -- I've let our traffic team know to check it out. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Yes, I believe that there is a changeable message board indicating that the outside lane exits at Jefferson. I'll share your observation with the construction team to see if it needs additional warnings. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
We have no plans, nor funding identified, for any work on Route 94 near Route D at this time. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communciations
That will last the remainder of the year. They have to replace the interstate bridge over Jefferson in both directions. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
Our inspector will check it out - thanks
An application for a federal transportation grant has already been submitted for approval that would address improvements for traffic, pedestrians, and bicyclists on Vandeventer and Tower Grove. In concert with that project there would be a resurfacing effort to address issues as you noted.
We can look at the timing and sequence to see if any room for improvement. Thanks for the note.
Our traffic engineers will check it out - thanks
Our patch crews are at war with potholes, we will address - thanks!
