What time are you seeing the issue? That will help me share better information with the traffic team to verify. However, the signal from Upper Bottom to east Route 364 has to be controlled by a signal (i.e. what's called a protected turn), since it is a two-lane left turn. You will often have a slight bump as the roadway joins up with the bridge (as the bridge's foundation is into rock, and the roadway may settle a bit as the traffic (especially heavy truck traffic) passes over.) Last week, a chatter asked: Would it be possible to change the lights at the intersection of Gravois & Eddie & Park during the overnight hours to flashing red? When I'm turning from Eddie & Park to east bound Gravois at 6:00 am, the signals take too long to recognize that a car is there. There are huge gaps of no traffic on Gravois at this time. The timing of the signals has been checked before. I think this is more of a traffic flow strategy issue of giving too much time to non existent traffic. Our traffic engineers looked at the signal and determined that there is a significant jump in traffic on Gravois around 6 a.m., so the signal coordination/timing kicks in about 5:30 to prepare for that higher amount of traffic. Before that, the signal is on detection, so Gravois should get the green for the most time (where the most traffic is) and then change fairly quickly to the cross streets when a vehicle pulls up (before 5:30 a.m.) The time to complete a full circuit of all the signals during that signal coordination is a little less than 90 seconds -- so the most that a vehicle should be waiting is just over a minute. Although I know it is frustrating to sit at a signal when no traffic appears to be coming through the intersection, this helps keep traffic flowing more smoothly through the corridor at the beginning of the rush period.
