Last week, Jimmy Z mentioned that they thought a detector was out on a signal at Watson and Old Sappington. Our traffic team checked it out and found all the detectors were working properly. The issue may very well be a timing issue, so if you have further information on the specific turn and timeframe you are seeing the issue, I can pass that along to our traffic experts to see if there may be some timing adjustments that might be able to be made. In last week's Road Crew, a chatter asked if we have any plans to resurface/improve Dorsett Road, west of McKelvey, in Maryland Heights. We do. In a project currently scheduled to begin in '27, we will resurface Dorsett from Calamaide west to Marine. David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation

The I-70 express lanes have been closed for two months and scheduled to be closed for another six weeks -- likely longer -- due to the Broadway bridge work. Despite this, the lanes have been swept and restriped in the last two weeks while trash continues to accumulate and sewer grates blocked for months. After each heavy rain recently, there have been news reports of highway flooding. Nearly every week in this chat there are complaints about the trash, and the usual response is a lack of manpower or resources to address it. Or placing the burden on haulers to secure their loads, although there are plenty of car body parts and tire treads littered about to challenge that logic.. How can the express lane work be justified while the other problems are ignored?

Our crews are out every day working to maintain or keep the roadway safe -- crews are out regularly, as weather and other priorities permit, picking up debris along our roadways; That being said, our crews often go through, and within hours, there is significant debris along the road that they just finished clearing. That is why we ask drivers to refrain from throwing trash out on the roadways and encourage drivers that are hauling material to cover their loads. . However, we do have different crews that specialize in specific tasks -- such as striping -- that work independently of the teams that are doing the regular maintenance along the roadways. I believe that is the case you describe you.. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

On St. Charles Rock Road, right at the entrance to St. Vincent Park, there are Jersey barriers in the middle of the road which makes it difficult to enter and exit the park. They've been there for well over a year. When is this going to end? Construction equipment sits there, never used.

The timing for eb Watson could use some help. Every day I turn onto eb Watson from Sappington at 415 ish pm and I get stopped at almost every light up to Laclede Station. I know turning onto a road requires a couple lights to get in sync but this seems to not be the case here. What should I expect? I know I can't always get greens.

I'll pass this along to our traffic team to take a look at this. I will say that timing along corridors often vary, based on which way the heaviest traffic is moving -- i.e. the roadway (and direction) with the heaviest traffic will get the most time. In addition, signals are timed using the posted speed limit -- so, if you are traveling along a corridor during rush hour, in the direction of heaviest traffic, you should only be stopped (by a signal) a few times, if you travel the speed limit. Are there future plans to re-pave Mattis Road? It is absolutely horrible with all the work the Water Department has been doing on it. Start to finish, it's a constant series of giant bumps and holes. It seems like even when they cover up a hole, they do it in a super bumpy fashion. It's awful.

We'll require the water company - once its work is complete - to fully restore any pavement damaged by its project. This is standard policy for any utility work performed in our right-of-way. However, I'll check with our project design group to see if Mattis is on our improvement project schedule list. David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation
