SB I-270, south of Ladue Road. This must be an ancient sign, since it gives the distances to US 40-61, Manchester Rd and Dougherty Ferry Rd, but doesn't include I-64 (unlike the one further north)!
goo.gl -
That was probably from before that stretch of I-64 could officially be called I-64. Until it connected as an interstate to I-70 near Wentzville, it was signed I-64, but couldn't be called that officially. We have a sign project coming up next year along I-270/I-255 and it should be updated as a part of that. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

I am very pleased to see the Olive and Lindbergh interchange open. The new ramps and lights are a great addition. While I know that this was not a MoDOT project, I was hoping that the existing asphalt on either side of the bridge over Lindbergh would be rehabbed. It is pretty trashed, with a continuous line of potholes in the lefthand eastbound lane and a huge cluster in the westbound lane where the lanes shift. This section was not resurfaced when MoDOT did Olive just to the west a few years ago, and the last repairs to this area were when you put down a tar and gravel overlay that mostly just made a mess. Are there any plans to resurface the old asphalt in the area? At a minimum, you need to be ready for urgent emergency repairs this winter because the section with massive pothole is just going to blow apart, like it did last winter during construction. The lane position in the new layout now has tires driving over what used to be paving seams between lane, and this is where there continuous potholes. This section of roadway is really bad and stands out given everything else in the area is new.

I have seen several potholes recently:
Just past the end of the ramp from SSR N to I-64 eastbound, there are multiple holes in the right-hand lane of I-64.
I-64 westbound, around the 9-10 mile markers, in the far left lane.
I-64 westbound, just before the Winghaven exit in the right lane.
Thanks! -

Can you please update on the status of the SSR-N widening between I-64 and Hwy Z? Is this imminent? Will there be an additional traffic light placed on N either at Welsh or Ridgeway/Red Baron? Ridgway/Red Baron has a LOT of traffic turning onto N as they're the main entrances to two large subdivisions.

We recently finished the study on the Route N project, however, at this time, we have not identified any funding for any work along the corridor. Since we haven't identified funding, we aren't at the point where we will determine exactly how any traffic along the corridor will be managed. You can see more on the planning study here: Route N Study. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

The pedestrian warning lights at Olive and I-170 are none functional. When pressing the switch to activate nothing happens. This is particularly dangerous as right turning cars are not slowing down even with pedestrians in the area . What is the plan to get the signals working or other ways to protect pedestrians crossing. With commercial development very active in the area, this is becoming more of a problem

I know that this is a never ending and possibly losing battle due to litterbugs and thoughtless individuals, but most of the grates adjacent to the fast lane on eastbound I-44 between Grand and Lafayette (at least) are either partially or entirely covered with litter and other debris. Can the shoulders be swept again before the next torrential rain storm hits? Thanks for all you collectively do!

We're still assessing our restoration options for this bridge. (Fierce July 26 flood waters completely washed away the blanket of heavy rock that protected its vertical support pillars.) I'm unable to provide a time line for the structure's reopening, but we're working on the issue as fast as we can. David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation

On the Watson at Brookview Drive/Watson Industrial Park signal issue, is there any way to shorten or eliminate the secondary cycles until the equipment can be replaced? Maybe eliminate the left-turn phases and extend the thru-traffic phases? Currently, (the main) traffic on Watson sits through a lot of dead time.

For the city: when resurfacing streets with parking lanes, has grinding/repaving just the traffic ones ever been considered?
Some potential benefits would (seem to) be saving time and materials, along with less stress on sewer laterals (which always seem to break after road work - I suspect the heavy grinder/roller vehicles play a role). The need for parking lanes to be in silky-smooth condition seems dubious.
The older/lighter-color pavement along the curbs may not be as visually pleasing as a solid black street, but it might also make a difference in how much "heat island" absorption occurrs - anything helps!
Along those lines, I'd like to nominate Lindenwood Avenue/W of Jamieson as a "pilot project": it carries a lot of traffic/is in pretty poor shape. Thanks for the forum! -

With the updates to the Jefferson/I-64 intersection, nighttime traffic cannot easily exit and merge like it used to be able to do. Are the lanes markings at Jefferson/Scott pretty well finalized? I've found myself just cutting over at Hamptom from 64 to 44 to avoid that whole area.

On Saturday morning I was crossing the Fee Fee and Olive intersection on foot. The cross walk button device that beeps and talks to you had been ripped off the stop light pole in the northwest corner of the intersection. The pole is on the island that sits between the two lanes of southbound Fee Fee, where one turns right and the other turns left. If it hasn't been repaired yet, can you send someone out to look at it? The device is still there but is resting on the concrete base connected by wires coming out of a hole in the pole.

Hi, thanks as usual for the chats. There is a large sewer cover lid on SB Jefferson @ Russell (2101 Jefferson) that appears to be sinking even further than it was. Usual drivers know to swerve ahead of time or use the other lane. Can this be looked at to possibly get it raised back to an acceptable level?
Thanks! -

Can you provide some more specifics? Which lane and roughly where along I-70 -- that section between the airport and I-270 is a pretty long stretch. If you would like to file a claim, you can start here: File A Claim | Missouri Department of Transportation (modot.org). Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

Can you be a little more specific on what you believe are problem pavement issues? I am not aware of any issues currently being looked at, although I have asked the construction engineer who worked on the project recently if they were aware of anything. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

Do you have more specific information on the potholes (general mile markers, lanes, etc) the construction zone is fairly lengthy, and due to the work zone restrictions, we want to make sure any repairs that are done are done relatively quickly to avoid lengthy backups in the work zone. I'll share your additional observation about debris along the corridor. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
