First, a correction. A few weeks ago, I was asking about Marlborough's disincorporation. They're still around, it's their neighbor, Mackenzie that went away, a few years ago.
Second, a couple of weeks ago, I had requested that the left turn cycle be eliminated from the temporary need for a fixed cycle at Watson and Watson Industrial. You all either did that (going with the fixed flashing yellow arrow) or fixed the equipment. Either way, it was a huge improvement - thanks! -
Thanks -- I did pass your comment about the disincorporation to our team overseeing our project in that area. We would have to verify that a municipality did, in fact, disincorporate before we could remove the sign. I'm glad to hear that the intersection at Watson and Watson Industrial has gotten better. For MoDOT. The northbound I-55 exit ramp onto Arsenal is closed while that stretch of the interstate is being reconstructed. The signal has been temporarily changed so that it no longer gives a green light to the exit ramp. That's the good news. The bad news is that as soon as a car pulls into the left-turn lane for eastbound Arsenal to make a turn onto the northbound I-55 entrance ramp, the signal immediately turns the green arrow on. Consequently, people travelling westbound are stopped. It’s like a ping pong ball for westbound drivers. A green light, an immediate red light, a green light, an immediate red again. All as soon as a car is in the turn lane. Before the exit ramp was shut down, a few cars had to stack up in the left turn lane and then, at the end of the phase, they’d get the arrow. Now, a car immediately triggers the arrow to come on. There should be a period of time before the signal calls for a left-turn arrow, as many times, those cars wishing to turn left have plenty of time to make a yielding turn. I believe in traffic terms, engineers call it "gap timing." The gap timing should be increased. Thank you.

For the city. The signal at Broadway and Lemp Avenue used to flash overnight, for as long as I can remember. Broadway flashed yellow and Lemp flashed red. It is not flashing anymore. This morning Broadway had a long red light and there wasn't a car in sight. Please put this signal back on flash in the late evening and early morning hours. Thank you.

Mackenzie Road is currently in the middle of a project to update the sidewalks and several pedestrian crossings; followed by a resurfacing project. Right now, there are a lot of utility relocations to prepare for the sidewalk work. Although the resurfacing will probably not be for a couple of years, we will work with the utility companies to have good patches there when they are completed with the relocations. Work began this week on our Aubuchon Road bridge replacement project in Hazelwood, near Aubuchon's intersection with Teson. With cooperative weather, we expect the project to be complete, and Aubuchon reopened to traffic, by the end of this year. David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation

This project will remain underway through, roughly, 2024. There is a lot of construction going along the corridor to rehabilitate and maintain the many bridges along this corridor, so there will continue to be a lot of impacts through that time to traffic along I-55. As far as your other question, MoDOT maintains the interstates and state numbered and lettered roadways across Missouri. In the greater St. Louis area, the department maintains more than 1,600 miles of road –most of those roadways with more than one lane in each direction. Like a house, roadways need regular maintenance; however, the department has several different options when it comes to the various repairs or preventative maintenance it uses on the roadway. Our goal is to get this work done, while limiting, as much as we can, an impact to traffic. A lot of the work along MoDOT's roadway needs to be completed to ensure that the roadway remains safe and operational for the forseeable future. There aren't a lot of interstate-level options between south county and points further south and the city. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

Yes. We are currently designing a project that will resurface/improve Big Bend from S. Kirkwood Road to Couch Avenue. Our time line for this project is not definite, since we're early in the planning process. However, work won't likely begin until 2024, at the earliest. The housing project across from Rogers School is already causing problems!
To begin with there are over 250 houses there of one type or another which means there will be at least 350 or more vehicles in there. This no west exit from there! That means that two lanes funnel onto MacKensie Road, a state HIGHWAY. That means if emergency vehicles might have a call close to MacKensie on those two lane streets, all of the rest of the people are trapped by emergency vehicles blocking the street.
Whose bright idea was it not to put a continuous right turn into and out of the project, the county or state? That would have taken some of the traffic off the highway! What you did was an easy way out for you. Widen the road on both sides 2 1/2 feet on each side for left turn lanes.
This reminds me of the MODOT mess created at I270 and I170 which causes lots of fatalities! It took 30 years to build I170! This project has been put off 56 years!
I moved to STL from Jefferson City in 1965 and the highway in Wentzville was a dangerous mess then! I know, you'll blame all on the railroad. I already see a problem with the flyover from I64 to I70 west, It doesn't have to be placed so far north, it could be farther down on I64 then flyover I70 saving gas and time and 61 could just be happy not to have to contend with that mess you are proposing!
I won't even start on the copycat bridge you are building at Rocheport which looks like all of the design/build projects you build because the are cheaper and faster, they look cheap also! Nothing innovative, nothing pleasing to the eye. People see that and they also fear we won't see any thing done to I70 until 2050. That's about your timetable. -
When a developer proposes improvements that may impact a MoDOT-maintained roadway, we typically work with them to propose the roadway improvements that they need to implement due to their development. I have passed your concerns along to our permits team, and if I get any further insight from them, I will share it in a future chat. Thank you for your other observations -- I will share the one on the I-64/I-70/Route 61 project with the appropriate team. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

i know there was lots of talk about road crews cleaning out the drains on roadways because of the large amount of rain that was received last month. I know there is also a problem with the amount of debris on the roadways that clog the drains. But what about the vegetation that grows out of the drains? I've noticed a lot of this along I-70 from 270 to the Stan Musial Bridge. If MO-DOT is cleaning the trash out why isn't the vegetation being taken care of, most of it has been there since spring time. That can clog a drain more than trash.
-
We do also remove excess vegetation from drainage as we are cleaning along the roadways. If there is a specific location where you see either debris, or vegetation, you can share it with us, either here, or by calling our customer service team 24/7 at 314-275-1500. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communication

At the intersection of Gravois and Tesson Ferry/Rock Hill Road, when going west on Gravois in the morning the green signal lasts for maybe 15 seconds only letting maybe 6 cars through backing everything up. The other directions stay green way longer. Other times of day seem to be ok. Could someone look at this ASAP it's very annoying.

Any update from the signals team:
Aug 10, 2022 12:22 PM
The pedestrian warning lights at Olive and I-170 are none functional. When pressing the switch to activate nothing happens. This is particularly dangerous as right turning cars are not slowing down even with pedestrians in the area . What is the plan to get the signals working or other ways to protect pedestrians crossing. With commercial development very active in the area, this is becoming more of a problem -
