Crews are out every day (as duties permit) picking up trash along MoDOT maintained roadways -- often pothole patching or other safety-related tasks (or weather) may limit their efforts.. In addition we have several organizations and groups that help with that -- due to CoVID restrictions, we are unable to use several of those groups (namely prison work release crews) to pick up trash along the roadway. Last year, we spent nearly $7 million picking up trash and debris from along Missouri state maintained roadways. People can help by not throwing material out of their cars, put trash in trash cans and to cover any loads that they are moving along the roadway to prevent items from blowing out of the back of trucks. Our teams are out there, and if you have specific locations, we can certainly ask a team to take a look at it. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications.
I can certainly pass it along to our traffic team to see if they can make any improvements to traffic flow. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I have passed it along to our team that oversees that area. They let me know that they would take a look at the issue. I would venture, though, that it would be more effective to update the sign, rather than move it -- sign relocations can be fairly costly. That could, however, conflict with the required standards for signs such as this. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
A utility project has prompted the lane closure. I'll have to check on the specifics of the work and report back in a future Road Crew. David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation
I've forwarded your report to our Operations group for investigation. Thanks for sharing. David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation
I've sent this on to our Operations group for investigation. Thanks for sharing. David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation
I have asked our traffic team to check this area out and see if the signs need to be adjusted. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
My guess is that it is operating correctly -- once you push the button, it lets the system "know" that there is someone waiting to cross, however, it has to run through the cycle before it gives the indicator to the trail traffic. I have asked our team to check it out and make sure it is operating correctly. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I've let our maintenance team know to clean up the graffiti. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I wouldn't want to speculate on any causes. I am very sure that the DOT will do an extensive investigation into the situation, Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
I've reached out to our traffic team on this, but I haven't heard anything back -- they may have moved to video detection -- in which case the striping was probably moved back to ensure that vehicles showed up in the detection "box". If I hear differently, or get some more information, I will share it. Andrew Gates. MoDOT Communications
I'm checking with the County Highway Department. I will provide a reply on next week's chat.
