ACL injuries aren't what they used to be. A six-month recovery isn't out of the question. He was supposed to have his surgery a week ago today. I have not gotten any update. Ninety-nine point nine percent of the time they say the surgery went well as expected. I would expect the same this time. We'll get a clearer picture of his time table in the spring I'd imagine.
We'll find out this year if Odom was more of a factor that he led on. Odom gave all the credit to Walters and the other staffers for the progress MU made this past season. Without Odom around, Walters might be open to trying new things, being more aggressive, more multiple in ways that Odom wouldn't have approved. We just don't know because this is a new dynamic. I've been impressed with Walters since he joined the staff. His safeties were solid this year. Gillespie is right on the cusp of being an All-SEC player.
I think the deeper line is playing a part in the struggles. A lot of the misses are well short. Martin has talked about some guys shooting way too deep on their 3s. They're getting open looks out there for a reason. I know Pinson is really working hard on his shot. He was a 40-percent shooter last year --- and is under 20 percent this year. Teams are more concerned about him penetrating, so he's getting wide open looks from 3. Martin said today he likes to see that - because he believes Pinson can hit those shots.
Good question. I'm not sure. There are things I like about the immediacy of social media. It's easier and more efficient to communicate with sources and readers. On the downside, it gives schools, athletes and coaches less of an incentive to cooperate with the media and grant access because they have their own media platform to tell their stories without a reporter's filter or interpretation. The open line of communication that's created by social media also opens the door for a lot of cruelty and nonsense that I can do without on a daily basis.
No. You don't get back lost scholarships. Just 81 for 2020. Then back to 85 for 2021 and beyond.
I thought the Baylor one was creative. I started watching the Oklahoma video but it was running too long for my tastes.
He was talking more about the depth behind them - and the third safety position where Perkins and Oliver played this year. Nobody on the current roster really has game experience at that position.
Brad Smith or Chase Daniel
I don't know. It's a very crucial hire. I was not impressed with the job Davis did this past year.
I'm not sure he's an SEC starter. Tough kid. Smart. Great teammate. Can he make all the throws? Is he talented enough to make good players around him great players? I haven't seen enough to be able to say if that's true.
I have no idea. It's not as uncommon in today's game as it would have been 10 years ago. Players come to college far more prepared physically to compete right away. I know there's some thought that Drake Heismeyer could get a shot at the center job - maybe immediately.
Hill and Ford weren't exclusively recruiting KC and St. Louis anymore under Odom. I understand the sentiment of wanting to keep some of those guys on the staff - and I like all of those guys you mentioned a lot - but this is what happens you make a head-coaching change. You can't bring in an outsider and expect him to keep the band back together. It would have been OK if he made wholesale changes to the entire staff, offense and defense. That's why you hire a new leader for the program. Drinkwitz is an offensive coach. I understand where he would want to wipe out that staff and start fresh with either people he knows or people he believes can speak his language and run his system.
You're still limited to only 25 recruits per year.

That's all for this week. A few questions got out of order, so I tried going through and fixing them. Have a great Christmas and come back next time.
