Good morning -- David Wrone from St. Louis County won't be joining us today, as he is out of the office. If you have any questions for the county, please feel free to post them, and I will share them with David. He'll respond to your question in a future chat. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

Andrew, on WB I-70, past MM 217.2, the exit sign for Bryan Road has Bryan in upper and lower case and ROAD in all cap(ital letter)s. Is there any particular reason for doing so? Or, was it just a bad day at the sign shop? (It's apparently been that way for at least 15 years.) Thanks! goo.gl (FWIW, the eastbound sign is more "normal", with everything in upper and lower case - goo.gl

Yes, we are aware of that, and that was an error when the sign was made. However, rather than redo the sign, we kept it in place until the sign was due for replacement. We do have the sign scheduled for replacement in about a year. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

Is it legal for people running for political office to place signs on entrance ramps to interstates and along the interstates themselves? For example, there is a Cori Bush sign on the entrance ramp onto I-44 eastbound at Hampton. In addition, I saw Mark McCloskey signs along eastbound I-44 near Sullivan. I would think that any such signs on MODOT property would be illegal.

It is illegal for anything to be placed along any roadway the state maintains, per Missouri state statute 227.220 . As time and priorities permit, our crews will remove the signs from any state maintained right of way, and take them to the nearest maintenance facility. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

I AM not sure if this is a St. Louis County issue or a MODOT issue since it involves Lindbergh. In any event, there was panhandler on eastbound Lindbergh at the corner of Lemay Ferry last Friday despite the posting of two separate signs stating that panhandling at that intersection was prohibited. What is the proper response to curb this illegal activity since the signs were not a deterrent. Is there a number citizens can call? This is a very busy intersection and the median is narrow and as such it does not seem safe for either the panhandler or the drivers (which is why I am sure that the signs are there in the first place).

Two issues for consideration by the City: First, there is a long, rectangular shaped pothole at the bottom of the entrance ramp from Market Street/Compton onto the Forest Park Parkway. Can this be fixed? Second, can anything be done about illegally parked cars on 16th street at the Market intersection? More than once, I have been prevented from turning right on Market from 16th as multiple cars (mainly City workers from the signage on the vehicles) are parked in a clearly marked no parking zone. I don't understand the entitlement mentality that people think that it is acceptable to impede traffic by completely blocking a lane of traffic. This kind of mentality just perpetuates stereotypes about government workers, and rightly so in this case.

Two tree issues for MODOT. NB old 21 approaching the Shady Valley interchange, the signs to direct you to the 21 ramps are covered by trees.
Southbound Berry Road at 44 has an entire traffic signal covered by branches. However, I'm not sure of the point of this signal as it's right next to the same signal(which is visible). -

I often use the left turn lane on south bound Grand on the bridge over Forrest Park to go east. This is very dangerous since there are no lines marked and if you think there is a #1 lane out of three, it puts you in direct line of sight with a west bound turn lane going north. Is there any way to get lanes painted on the bridge?

I have recently been noticing an increase of commercial vehicles using the center turn lanes as parking spots while they unload their vehicles. More times than not it has been the car haulers, unloading vehicles in the middle of the road.
I would think this would be highly unsafe, and wonder about the legality of them parking in those lanes for commercial business.
IS this legal for them to do? -
You are correct that is certainly would not be safe. I am checking with our traffic team to verify about a state prohibition, but many municipalities have prohibitions about where and when commercial vehicles can park, especially in residential areas. You may want to check the rules with the local municipality, or check with your local law enforcement team. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
