Questions about highway construction or traffic lights? Ask the Road Crew, 1 p.m.
Ask the experts from the Missouri Department of Transportation, St. Louis and St. Charles counties and St. Louis City your questions about highways and roads. The live chat starts at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

For people with questions about city streets: A representative from the St. Louis Streets Department hasn't responded to an email I sent about their participation in the chat. The best way to report problems with streets, such as potholes or traffic light issues, would be to submit a request through the Citizens' Service Bureau.

The pavement on Union Road between Leeshore Drive and Spring Drive (where it cross over I-55) is getting very rough, with many potholes. Additionally, the lane striping is very worn (and completely gone in some places), making it very difficult to see at night or in wet weather (especially since there is no street lighting on this segment of Union). Are there any plans to resurface (or at least restripe) this part of Union in the near future?
-
We have no near future plans for this section of Union. The pavement along this stretch of the road is currently rated a '7' on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being 'brand new' and '1' being extremely poor. I'll forward your report about the potholes to our Operations group for remediation. Thank you for sharing your observations. David Wrone, St. Louis County Department of Transportation

MoDOT is planning to make changes on Hall Street (Route H) between Riverview and Adelaide in 2027. This work will include resurfacing and drainage improvements. We are also replacing interstate signs across the St. Louis District on a corridor by corridor basis. The signs on I-44 were recently completed and we are planning to replace failed structural signs on I-270 and I-55. With the large number of signs, this is a long term effort that we are undertaking over the next several years. Thank youBrian UmfleetDistrict Traffic Engineer

We have begun preliminary design on a project that will, among facilitating numerous other improvements, resurface Laclede Station Road from Weil to Watson. Under our current schedule, work would begin on this job in early '26. David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation

Hello, I deliver frequently in Affton. I reported a few months ago that the light at the new development on Mackenzie near Rogers middle school often stops Mackenzie traffic for no reason. I saw it happening again this week, late at night with no other traffic. I approached going northbound and was stopped for no cross traffic. Then both north and south got protected lefts. Nobody was in any lane prior to or during this time. Thank you.
