MoDOT is updating sidewalks along Route P (Mackenzie) between Gravois and Watson to meet federal standards outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act. Since much of Mackenzie in that area had raised shoulders, and since the sidewalks will be higher than the existing shoulders, we have to make adjustments to where driveways enter the roadway. You can read more about the project here: Route P (Mackenzie) resurfacing and sidewalk project | Missouri Department of Transportation (modot.org)

In St. Louis City, at the intersection of McCausland Ave & Dale Ave, one of the traffic signals has been turned to face the wrong street. The result is that drivers are seeing the signal for Dale when they should be seeing the signal for McCausland. Since it is a high traffic street, this increase the likelihood of an accident.

Thank you for hosting these chats. This question is for the City. I heard that there was a recent open house for comments on redesigning River Des Peres Boulevard between Lansdowne and Gravois. However, River Des Peres Boulevard is in very poor condition between Gravois and Morgan Ford, so why is that section not being considered as well? I urge you to drive it and navigate the numerous potholes, especially on eastbound River Des Peres just past Gravois. I understand that this may not be addressed in the safety improvements, but this section is in desperate need of repaving. Will this be done?

Thank you for bringing this concern to my attention. I'll definitely cruise this area today and also submit work order for Street Maintenance crews to repair. Next I'll forward your concern to the Alderman. Thanks...Larry Tyler / Streets & Traffic Liaison

A few weeks ago I mentioned how the new roundabouts in North County seemed to have dimension concerns that would make safe navigation difficult for cars and especially big trucks. The new Hazelwood guardrail at the entrance to southbound I-270 has extensive damage and needs to be replaced. The design for these seems to be too tight and need re-examined.

The roundabouts and all elements of the I-270 North Project have been designed with the safety of travelers in mind and meet or exceed all required standards set forth for the safe movement of vehicle. Those roundabouts on I-270 are similar to other roundabouts in the region that vehicles are able to safely navigate. Our team continues to do outreach throughout the corridor in order to address any challenges travelers may initially have adjusting to the updated design. I have passed your further observations along to our team overseeing the work along that project. They have shared that our contractor is working to schedule the damaged guardrail, but since it requires the ramp to be closed, we have to determine the time that least impacts traffic in that area. Thank you for reaching out to us. We appreciate your comments. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

The intersection at Page and Kingshighway still has a ridiculously large bump in the middle lane going southbound on Kingshighway. To prevent vehicle damage you either have to swerve around or slow down 15 mph. I reported it maybe a year ago in one of these chats. Ditto for southbound Hanley at Manchester.

For the city (I think): I know there was recent post about plans in the works for major work/changes to Kingshighway (among other arterials), but there's an urgent need for repairs to the right lane of the N-bound stretch between the Christy merge and Fyler - many drivers stack up the left one, trying to avoid the battering using it entails, which in turn messes up traffic flow. Anything short-term planned? Thanks!
