Hello, as a St. Louis County resident, I wanted to report something on the County website regarding traffic signals. I noticed that it now requires that you have - and give permission to access - a Google Gmail account, which I neither have nor want. While I know this is not your area of control, I just want to express my disappointment that a website existing to serve citizens requires that they sign up and give up details of a commercial service in order to access such a basic function of government. I wanted to file a complaint about it through the site, but the same restriction existed. Please take this to your bosses in the County. Thank you.

We regret the inconvenience of our Google authentication system. However, it's a valuable tool. We rely on it to confirm a person's identity, so that St. Louis County personnel can respond to that individual when an issue he or she identified has been corrected, or to refer the individual to a different government or agency. Without this authentication process, we would be unable to verify that a communication has actually come from a specific citizen, rather than someone pretending to be that citizen or a person filing spurious complaints. Citizens may also report issues with our road system by calling our Service Request bureau: 314-615-8538. David Wrone, St. Louis County's Department of Transportation

Two issues for the City: On southbound Truman Parkway the pavement is deteriorating through the entire intersection of Park. Please patch this. On northbound Hampton near Suson, the pavement is deteriorating. There also appears to water on the pavement so I wonder if there is a water main break coming.

I am not sure if this question is for the County or MODOT, but at the construction project on Manchester, the vegetation on the southside of Manchester at Laclede Station/Hanley (where Manchester crosses Deer Creek has been stripped of vegetation. Will this area be restored so that the amount of runoff into the creek is reduced? Related, the condition of Laclede Station between Marshall and Manchester is a C- at best. Are there any plans to repave this?

Erosion control during and after construction projects is very important, and plans are designed to ensure that any project meets the appropriate standards. Generally speaking, there should be some way to reduce erosion near the project, but I'll need to get some specification on what that should be from our construction team overseeing the project. If I get anything back from them, I'll let you know. David Wrone will take a look at your question about Laclede Station and get you a response next week. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
