Talk to Metro about buses and MetroLink
Metro is in the later stages of its comprehensive MetroBus analysis – Metro ReImagined – and soon will turn to its riders for recommendations and refinement. Metro plans to hold several public meetings to present an initial plan to the public sometime this spring. Until then, ask whatever public transit questions you may have. Join the experts during their monthly chat, Wednesday, March 7 at noon.

Good Afternoon, St. Louis! We are busy preparing to share a draft plan for Metro Reimagined, Metro's comprehensive update of our MetroBus system. Look for updated information on Metro's project website, including a schedule of public meetings in late March. Metro's next quarterly service change is coming up on Monday, March 12. This service change includes relatively minor adjustments to route schedules.

DOWNTOWN RESIDENT,This spring the buses with the #99 Downtown Trolley wrap were unwrapped so that they could be re-assigned to other routes to create more even utilization of these buses across the transit system. These buses were operating a much different duty cycle (fewer miles, fewer hours) than other buses on our system which operate very heavy duty cycles.Metro is working to plan other service options for Downtown St. Louis, which could include microtransit or a revised downtown circulator. Stay tuned to the conversation on our website.

What happened to the nice wrap job on the Downtown Trolley buses? The buses on the 99 look like all the other buses and don't stand out for the visitor to recognize. No where on the vehicle (not even the headsign) does it say DOWNTOWN TROLLEY. How can you sell a product if there is no label on the product?

Justin, MetroLink currently operates every 12 minutes during weekday peak periods on the Red Line and Blue Line, with trains operating every 6 minutes between Forest Park and Fairview Heights Stations. On weekdays outside of peak period and weekends, MetroLink operates every 20 minutes on the Red and Blue Lines, with 10-minute service between Forest Park and Fairview Heights Stations. Metro continues to monitor customer demand across our entire MetroLink and MetroBus system, and does make periodic adjustments according to customer demand and budget. While greater MetroLink frequency would benefit Metro customers, demand at this time does not suggest we shift resources from elsewhere in the transit system to increase MetroLink frequency. This could change in the future, subject to funding and demand.

addxb2, thank you for your interest in riding MetroLink Downtown at lunchtime. We liked this free service too, and are open to options for pursuing this. Any time a Metro transit service is offered for free, such as the former Downtown Free Fare Zone (Downtown Stations, Monday – Friday 11am – 2pm), there needs to be some offset for the lost passenger revenue. As an entity that provides service using funds invested by the public, we must equitably distribute the love. A successful model could be one that involves the business community or other sponsor providing revenue or in-kind services to support that passenger revenue component, which typically covers about 20% of the cost to provide the transit service
