I want first send condolences to the boots on the ground over the loss of the maintenance worker kill while setting up barricades on flooded roads this week. I had the unfortunate occasion to find multiple roads blocked Sunday. But wish the Travelers map was as detailed as Google was. I did discover that MoDOT needs more road closed signs. As the vehicle kept finding roads flooded. But that brings me closer to home. What being done along 47 to rise it about food level in Warren County and in Union. -

If you do see MoDOT maintained roadways that should have "roadway closed signs," please feel free to share that 24/7 with our customer service team at 1-888-ASK-MoDOT -- although our team tries to keep an eye on the roadways that may be hit with flash flooding, there can be a lot of roadways that get covered quickly when we have a great deal of rain. As far as your question abut Route 47, although we have some work scheduled for resurfacing stretches of it, none of that at this time would be expected to significantly raise the level of the road to prevent occasional flash flooding or existing flooding when river levels reach certain points. If it was under the bridge, it's to help catch any pieces of concrete that may break loose due to deterioration. Winter weather (especially water getting into cracks and repeatedly freezing and thawing, and the roadway treatments used to clear roads) can be tough on concrete. Crews are out striping interstates now (I-55 in Jeff County and I-70 in St Charles County) . Although I have shared your concern with the striping team, I understand that should be done when they are working on I-64 -- but I don't have a specific date when they plan to be out there. for obvious reasons, the recent rain has delayed a lot of striping work. I-44 Eastbound before climbing the Antire Hill, there are no signs to alert 18 Wheelers that there is a "4th hill climbing" lane ... Are there are any thoughts to placing signage well in advance of the 4th lane? I see so many 18's climbing in the hill in the middle lanes and pacing traffic to a a crawl because they had no advance notice of the 4th lane!

I've passed that along to our traffic team to make sure that all the appropriate signing is up -- I'm told there is at least one "Slower Traffic Keep Right" before the climbing lanes. The left turn arrow from Northbound Kingshighway onto Westbound Manchester is out of sync. Traffic going North on Kingshighway has the green light while the arrow for the turn lane is red for no reason. Often there is no traffic from the North and we have to wait a whole cycle for other directions before getting the arrow. Is there a way to put a flashing yellow arrow?

There is a lot of activity at that intersection, so that may be a part of the phasing for that particular signal -- if you happen to have a time when you often see that happen, I can ask our traffic engineers to take a look at it to see if there are any improvements to be made. There are three southbound lanes on Kingshighway -- MoDOT doesn't use flashing yellow left arrows on roadways/signals they maintain when the turn crosses more than two lanes -- it simply isn't safe. Who is responsible for maintaining the shoulder of eastbound Manchester Road in the area between approximately Weidman Rd. and Dietrich Meadows Drive? There are many potholes and it's hard to avoid them when entering and exiting Manchester at Dietrich and at Dietrich Meadows Drive, or exiting to the businesses along there.

From reasonrules: For the state: was some new technique employed for the repaving of Chippewa/Watson? I've got a vehicle with less than 3K mile on the tires, so they aren't why driving on it causes much more road noise than adjacent streets. Did you use "extra crispy recipe" asphalt?
Thanks.Answer: No, the resurfacing on Chippewa is called microsurfacing and we have used it on several roadways, as conditions warrant. We vary the type of resurfacing/repaving based on the roadway and what is the most effective treatment for the roadway. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications -
This is in regards to the traffic signals at Chippewa and Creighton. Thanks for taking care of the red flash last week. I’ve been going through this intersection during the morning and evening rush for 15 + years. There is a left turn arrow both east and westbound Chippewa. Every day us motorists sit needlessly at the red light as the left arrow is on for ghost traffic before the straight ahead traffic gets a green. Now that the Schnucks store is closed and virtually no traffic turning left onto Creighton or to go into the Schnucks store (yes, there is a furniture store there too), is there any way to change the timing of the green arrow or turn it off completely? It would be much appreciated!

Concerning the intersection of Hampton and Arsenal. The light turns green for westbound Arsenal, then a second or two later it turns green for eastbound Hampton. This short delay causes some westbound people to turn left onto southbound Hampton just as those heading eastbound start to take off. Not sure what the reason is for the short delay. Thanks.

2 questions, please.
1) For the city: the extra-wide block of Tamm facing Francis Park was just repaved, and the only striping as of 6/25 was a yellow center one -- right down the middle, as before.
With 45-degree parking on the park side/parallel on the residence side, this seems to make no sense, as the park side parking barely leaves sufficient room for a through lane. Why is it being put back just as it was, pre-repaving?
