Last week, a chatter asked about allowing U-turns at the intersection of Ladue and Lindbergh. I checked with our traffic team for the area, and they shared that the intersection at Lindbergh and Ladue is a little tighter than that at Lindbergh and Scheutz. There isn't enough space there to allow a safe U-turn. They also mentioned that there is a U-turn at Lindbergh and Quailways, which isn't very far from this intersection. We expect work to get underway in '22 on our Ballas Road re-surfacing project, the limits of which are Manchester Road south to Dougherty Ferry Road. If you're referring to Missouri American Water's ongoing water main installation work on Ballas, I'll have to check with our Special Use Permit group for a time table on that project. Last week, a Road Crew chat participant asked about potential solutions to the brief amount of time allocated for northbound Hanley drivers to turn left (west) onto Manchester Road. This intersection will be completely re-built next year. The new signals will, it is expected, be programmed to allow additional time (with a dedicated arrow) for left turn movements. Once again the lack of true leadership at MoDOT causes the Mo River Runner to lose a round-trip. And continues to be delayed by the illegal behavior of Union Pacific. The citizens of Missouri taxpayers depend on passenger rail to get to doctors, see families and visitors to our state depend on it to go places. IDOT is hundreds of light years ahead of MoDOT in supporting Passenger rail. Do we need to sue the leadership and the lazy public information officers. Already pushing class action lawsuit again the Missouri legislators that refuse to fund the program at it actual cost. We are wasting money on engineers and wasteful designs for things that don’t need such grand concrete.

Although MoDOT has a multimodal section that acts as a liaison with Amtrak, the department has no operational control over funding for the River Runner. The funding that MoDOT receives (Citizen's Guide to Transportation Funding in Missouri | Missouri Department of Transportation (modot.org) is mandated by the Missouri Constitution to go to roads and bridges. All funding for multimodal operations comes from general revenue, which is allocated by the Missouri legislature. So adding a lane will just increase traffic, that’s not a solution, we need to switch to public transportation mechanism. Light rail or streetcars. That answer is NOT more lanes. Just look at Houston. 20 traffic lanes and traffic still is bumper to bumper.

We will. Most likely during a construction rehabilitation of that bridge. At this point, they are not creating a safety hazard, and it is more cost effective to remove them during a major construction project than to mobilize a demolition team to take them down independent of other work. At this point, our dynamic message boards, which were installed shortly thereafter, do a much better job at sharing information on lane closures on those bridges. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications

At I-64 and McCausland Ave., traffic backs up on southbound McCausland at the on-ramp onto westbound I-64. I believe this is because there isn’t a dedicated right turn lane at the intersection, so vehicles continuing on McCausland block those intending to turn right onto westbound I-64. If I make a donation of $2 million to MoDOT, will you use the funds to add a dedicated right turn lane at this intersection? Thanks.

MoDOT doesn't maintain McCausland in that area. The department's responsibilities stop at the ramps, and the roadway directly underneath the I-64 bridge, and we have no plans to make any changes to that section of I-64 anytime soon. I believe that stretch of roadway belongs to the city, so you should might want to discuss that with your alderperson. Andrew Gates, MoDOT Communications
